utility belt

Tuesday, 10August, 2010

now, admittedly, i have a beautiful purse. i love it a lot. it’s made of tapestry and has beaded tassles hanging off. it’s very, very neat looking.

however, it’s also pretty annoying. when i’m walking it sometimes swings over to the front and gets repeatedly smacked by my thigh with each step. or when i lean over to get something, and it swings over and attacks my face. or when i want to dance but i can’t because of that PURSE, and i don’t want to set it down lest it’s stolen. i used to think the solution to these problems was the right purse, but it’s really not. all purses possess the same annoying traits.

the solution is a utility belt.

so i made this out of an old hat i had. a very nice heavy-duty hat that i was very fond of, but didn’t wear. i feel that its new life purpose is 20 times better than before, and i’m happy to be using it.

pirate lorry and chi rho

Friday, 16July, 2010

since i’m a terrible swimmer, i’ll happily settle for a pirate lorry instead of a pirate ship.
here’s my pinzgauer — a 6-wheeled all-terrain utility vehicle originally developed in austria.
complete with pirate flag!

head stripes and varnish

Monday, 27July, 2009

some random experimentation. first time wearing nail varnish in 11 years.

And head stripes because ….. why not, right? (sharpies)

EDIT: head stripes are not a good idea harhar. not recommended.
I knew my head oil would make them very temporary, which is why i decided to try it. But it also distorts the stripes so they end up looking like weird dark mottled skin, not stripes. Temporary, of course, but there’s no point. Experiment complete. it’s a better idea not to draw on your head, anyway.

face paint EXTREME

Wednesday, 6May, 2009

I decided to make myself into a Kapudo with white and black face paint and “creepy skin” putty, the most repulsive stuff ever that’s like sticky smelly old people skin mixed with hair, but it works great for moulding a temporary extended nose or pointed ears (or fake gashes, hence the “creepy skin” name).

sharpies in your hair!!!

Monday, 30March, 2009

I’m still baffled. How did I not think of this? How did nobody tell me about this? Drawing on your hair with a sharpie is brilliant. Permanent, yes, but I’m not the sort of person who gets bored with something every week — and hair grows out! I’ve been drawing stripes on the tips of my dreads to achieve a sort of pheasant-feather look and I’m just flat pleased with how it’s come out.
Great fun as well, drawing on hair. Cheers.
